So, if you’re looking for a mouthwatering, side dish that’ll have everyone asking for seconds, you’ve come to the right place.

Cousin Bob’s Redemption

Ah, Cousin Bob, the guy who once microwaved a cereal box just to “warm up” his breakfast. But this year, he’s on a mission for redemption, and our stuffing is his secret weapon. You see, this dish is easy-peasy.

With no fancy techniques, complicated steps, or exotic ingredients, Bob can shine this year. The simply scandalous stuffing is a game-changer, even for those who can barely flip a pancake. We’re turning Cousin Bob from kitchen calamity to culinary hero.

In our household, we’re all about the classics when it comes to stuffing. We’re die-hard fanatics for traditional stuffing, where you won’t find any apples, dried cranberries, nuts, mushrooms (the thought!), or even a hint of sausage. We’re talking about old-school stuffing, crafted from stale bread, a medley of onions and celery, a generous dose of butter, and a symphony of aromatic herbs.

Here’s What You’ll Need for a SIMPLE No Nonsense Stuffing:

  • Stale bread, cubed (choice of bread is up to you, we chose half white/half wheat)
  • Butter
  • Onions & Celery
  • Garlic, Fresh sage, Fresh thyme, Fresh rosemary, Fresh parsley
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Chicken broth
  • Eggs

A Quick Guide on How to Make Stuffing (full recipe below)

  • Prep the Bread: Tear, rip or cut day-old bread. Allow it to sit out at least a few days to continue getting stale.
  • Sauté the Base: Melt butter in a pan. Sauté onions and celery until tender.
  • Mix and Season: Combine sautéed mixture with bread cubes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Moisten the Mixture: Gradually add chicken or vegetable broth, ensuring the bread is moist but not soggy.
  • Bind It Together: Beat eggs and fold them into the mixture for binding.
  • Bake to Perfection: Transfer to a baking casserole dish. Bake until golden brown, and you’ve got yourself a delicious, simple stuffing.

Let me tell you, this stuffing recipe isn’t just a recipe; it’s a family heirloom. When it comes to stuffing, it’s the only one that cousin Bob ever needs. In our book, it’s not just the best stuffing recipe on the internet; it’s the undisputed champion of the stuffing world. It’s been passed down through generations, refined to perfection, and it never fails to show up on our Thanksgiving menu right next to the green bean casserole.

A SIMPLE No nonsense stuffing recipe that even your cousin Bob can’t screw up

Ingredients

Scale

    • ½ Loaf of day-old White bread (approximately 5 cups), torn into ½-inch cubes
    • ½ Loaf of day-old Wheat bread (approximately 5 cups), torn into ½-inch cubes
    • ½ Cup (1 stick) Butter
    • 2 Cups Onions,diced
    • 2 Cups Celery, diced
    • 2 Cloves Garlic, minced
    • 1 Tbsp. Fresh Sage, chopped
    • 1 Tbsp. Fesh Thyme, chopped
    • 2 teaspoons Fresh Rosemary, chopped
    • 2 teaspoons Fresh Parsley, chopped
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 2 ½ Cups Chicken or Vegetable broth
    • 2 Large Eggs, beaten

    Instructions

      1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a 9×13-inch baking dish.
      2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onions and celery, and sauté until they become tender and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
      3. Stir in the minced garlic, fresh sage, thyme, rosemary, and parsley. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the herbs to release their aroma.
      4. In a large mixing bowl, place the bread cubes. Pour the sautéed vegetable and herb mixture over the bread.
      5. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Toss the ingredients together, ensuring the bread absorbs the flavors.
      6. Gradually add the chicken or vegetable broth to the mixture while stirring, making sure the bread is evenly moistened but not soggy.
      7. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and then fold them into the mixture, providing a binding element for the stuffing.
      8. Transfer the stuffing to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
      9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
      10. Serve your homemade stuffing alongside your favorite roast, turkey, or as a delicious side dish at your holiday dinner. Enjoy!

NOTE: Bread must be stale. For best results, tear the bread into bite sized pieces in a large baking dish a few days prior to making the stuffing. Turn every so often to allow to stale.
