That’s right friends. This HOMEMADE eggnog is as fresh as it can get.
This alcohol-free eggnog is pretty simple as there aren’t any complicated steps which makes it perfect for beginners. In fact, you can easily whip up this holiday drink in just 15 minutes.
This recipe is alcohol-free, but if you’re looking for something a little bit stronger, the creamy texture blends perfectly well with a bit of rum, bourbon, or brandy. Just add 1 or 2 tablespoons to the mix. This instant pot eggnog is so delicious, you’ll almost mistake this creamy treat for dessert!
TIPS TO MAKE EGGNOG IN THE INSTANT POT IN UNDER 15 MIN:

- Whisk together the eggs and sugar. It’s important to whisk this very well in order for the eggnog to thicken and not clump.
- Whisk in the milk, heavy cream, and vanilla.
- Pour the into the baking pan and add the cinnamon sticks and star anise.
- Cook, stirring constantly for 8 minutes.
- Submerge the eggnog into an ice bath to stop the eggs from cooking, whisking continuously until it cools and thickens.
- Chill for a few hours until ready to serve.
SIMPLE Instant Pot Egg Nog
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cook Time: 8 minutes
- Total Time: 18 minutes
Ingredients
- 3 Cups Whole Milk
- ⅓ – ⅔ Cup sugar (depending on taste)
- ½ Cup Heavy cream
- 3 Large Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 1 Star anise
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
Instructions
- Place the trivet into the Instant Pot and fill with 4 cups of water. Place a baking pan inside and set the Instant Pot to the Sautee setting.
- While the water is heating, whisk the eggs and sugar together. Whisk WELL.
- Add the milk, heavy cream and vanilla until incorporated.
- Pour the into the baking pan and add the cinnamon sticks and star anise.
- Cook, stirring constantly for 8 minutes or until the eggnog has thickened.
- Immediately submerge the pot into an ice bath and continue to whisk until the eggnog has cooled and thickened, about a minute.
- Chill for a few hours until ready to serve.
- Add a little bourbon or whiskey to a glass if desired and fill with ice cold eggnog.
- Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg.
Notes
To pasteurize the egg nog, use a candy thermometer and be sure the eggnog reaches 160 degrees.
