The old fashioned is a cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters and water and adding whiskey. It is commonly garnished with an orange slice (or zest) and a cocktail cherry.
The name came out (in the olden days) as a whiskey cocktail, then an old fashioned whiskey cocktail, until finally it landed on just Old Fashioned. We recommend these 9 oz. glass whiskey glasses to serve.
This Old Fashioned recipe, however, has a bit of a twist on it. Even though the Old Fashioned has a sweetness to it making it smoother and reaching a further base than your average whiskey drinker, this one takes it a step further by incorporating a fall spiced simple syrup.
