Alright, you little leprechauns, gather ’round because we’re about to embark on a journey to Shamrock Shake paradise! Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Why would I bother making this at home when I can just hop in my car and hit up the golden arches?” Well, buckle up, my friends, because we’re about to dive into a world where artificial colors and mysterious green goo are replaced with real ingredients and a dash of sass.
Can you add alcohol?
Is that even a real question? YES! Here are a few suggestions:
MINTY:
- Add 2 oz. Crème de menthe
- 2 oz. Vanilla Vodka
BAILEYS:
- Add ½ cup Baileys Irish Cream
PEPPERMINTY:
- Add 2 oz Crème de menthe
- 1 oz Baileys Irish Cream liqueur
- 1 oz Peppermint Schnapps
OTHER TIPS:
- Be sure to use MINT extract and NOT peppermint. The peppermint will not give the same flavor as a McDonald’s shamrock shake. Mint extract comes closer and is less powerful.
- Use whole milk – don’t waste your time trying to make this ‘lowfat’. It’s not worth it!
- Less is more with the food coloring. Start with 6-8 drops, give it a whirl and if you want it darker add 2-3 more.
