- 4 Cups Sliced Apples, 4 large or 5 medium Granny Smith, peeled, cored and chopped
- 2 Tbsp. Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
For the topping:
- 3/4 Cup All Purpose Flour
- 1/2 Cup Quick Cooking Oats
- 10 Tablespoons COLD Butter
- 3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Apple Pie spice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F and completely butter a square 8×8 baking dish (bottom as well as the sides).
- In a medium bowl, add the topping ingredients. Use a fork or pastry cutter to incorporate the butter into the flour/oat mixture until it resembles course pea sized sand.
- Combine the chopped apples, sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon in a large bowl until the apples are place coated.
- Spoon them into the buttered pan and evenly spread the topping all over the apples.
- Bake on the center rack for 30-35 minutes or until apples are tender and bubbly.
- Serve warm or room temperature with ice cream and caramel if desired.
