Ingredients
Scale
- 20–24 Pitted Dates, sliced open
- 10–12 Slices Thin Bacon, cut in half
- 20–24 Almonds (you can put 2 in each Date if there is enough room)
- OPTIONAL: Soft Goat Cheese, Smoked Cheese or Cheddar
FOR THE GLAZE:
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
- 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
Instructions
- Gently open the dates along the cut line (where they’ve been cut for pitting) and tuck in 1 (or 2) almonds inside each date and set aside. Add the cheese if using.
- Cut the bacon in half and wrap each date in the bacon.
- Use a toothpick to keep the bacon from unwrapping and place each date on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake them in a preheated oven at 400°F for 15 minutes. Flip and cook for another 15 minutes or until the bacon is evenly cooked and crispy.
- While the dates are baking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Whisk in the brown sugar and maple syrup and continue to simmer for about 5 to 8 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Brush the glaze over the dates and place back into the oven for an additional 3 minutes.
